I’m at Control Point to develop research into the sustainability of artist-led activity in the South West. I’ll be writing a literature map, recording interviews, chairing discussions, and working on a self-organised web platform.

Bio
My research and practice currently involves coding and adaptive systems, regarding relationships between concepts of agency, society, technology, space, and natural sciences.
Most of my work involves physical interaction with participants, setting frameworks and facilitating subjectivity, observing interpretations of rules and codes. I’ve recently recorded and mapped experiential walks around Plymouth’s West End, with local regeneration strategy as the catalyst. Over the past year I’ve also produced a collaborative vocal improvisation, curated an exhibition of international artists, had a performance commission for local artist-led group U:1, and begun testing relationships between human and computer code structures.
At the moment I’m taking part in Control Point at Plymouth Arts Centre, in order to research sustainable approaches to artist-led culture –through group discussions, presentations, interviews, writing, and reading.
Staying with the Bristol Diving School boys this week – We’re thinking of something to collaborate on, perhaps an event in the space while it’s between shows… and looking forward to the weekend’s events at unCraftivism. Keep up to date via my personal blog, at http://davidgjohns.wordpress.com/

Hi David
I heard you made a publication with BDS; how did it go?
